Laura Riera shares her business experience
Menorca is much more than the place where we work. It is the setting in which we have grown as a company, where our clients, partners, suppliers and many of the people who have accompanied Som Menorca for more than three decades are based.
On the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the Menorca Chamber of Commerce, the newspaper Menorca brought together a range of business experiences linked to the institution. Among them was that of Laura Riera, Managing Director of Som Menorca and a member of the Chamber's Board, who shared her perspective on the evolution of an institution that today plays an increasingly active role alongside Menorcan businesses.
Laura particularly highlighted this transformation: from an institution that companies mainly approached to carry out specific administrative procedures, to a team capable of anticipating their needs and providing them with training, tools and resources that, in many cases, would be difficult to access individually.
This way of understanding business also reflects the way we work at Som Menorca. After 35 years of experience, we continue to believe that a company does not grow in isolation from its surroundings. It grows when it shares knowledge, collaborates, listens, adapts and actively participates in the community of which it is part.
The presence of Som Menorca on the Chamber's Board also provides an opportunity to contribute the experience accumulated over all these years at the helm of a Menorcan company linked to the real estate and holiday rental sectors. This is a sector closely connected to many other areas of the island's economy: retail, hospitality, services, maintenance, construction and tourism, among others.
This business dimension also goes hand in hand with a social commitment that was recently recognised with the Grand Cross of Humanitarian Merit, an award that Laura Riera was the first person in the Balearic Islands to receive.
For us, being part of Menorca means precisely that: carrying out our professional activity responsibly, contributing to the island's economic fabric and maintaining a close relationship with the people who place their trust in us.
The Chamber's anniversary celebration was also a good opportunity to hear other business experiences from the island and to remember something essential: behind every project are people, lessons learned, challenges and a shared determination to keep moving forward.
Because after so many years, we remain convinced that Som Menorca is not simply a company that works in Menorca. It is a company that is part of Menorca.
