News on the acquisition of tourist accommodation spaces for homes in Menorca
On June 6, 2025, the Regional Minister of Territorial Planning and Tourism approved Resolution 2025/284, which establishes how tourist accommodation spaces can be acquired from the temporary pools created pursuant to Decree Law 4/2025.
The temporary pools of spaces are filled with tourist accommodation spaces that are closed.
No new tourist accommodation spaces will be created.
This temporary pool of spaces will remain in effect until the new PTI (Insular Territorial Plan) is approved, which will establish the number of tourist accommodation spaces permitted in Menorca.
The Tourism Administration will allocate spaces in the order in which applications are received, based on the available spaces in each pool.
Meeting all the requirements is no guarantee of being able to purchase the requested tourist spaces, as this will depend on the availability of spaces in the temporary pool.
Another option for acquiring spaces is by designating a beneficiary for the tourist spaces that are to be discontinued. This procedure must be managed by the owner of the tourist property who is deregistering their spaces. When requesting the deregistration of the spaces in their property, they designate who will be the new owner of those spaces, provided the requirements are met.
