SOM Menorca and Cáritas Menorca: A Shared Commitment to the Well-being of Our Community
At SOM Menorca, we firmly believe that a company should not only generate economic value but also actively contribute to the well-being of the society in which it operates. As a family business with more than 30 years of experience on the island, we are deeply committed to the social and sustainable development of Menorca, and we are proud to collaborate with organizations that share these values, such as Cáritas Menorca.
Cáritas Menorca is the official organization of the Catholic Church in Menorca responsible for promoting, guiding, and coordinating charitable and social action on the island. Its work focuses on supporting the most vulnerable people, defending their dignity and rights, and working to improve their living conditions. From programs serving low-income families to job placement initiatives, Cáritas plays a key role in building a more just and supportive society.
At SOM Menorca, we actively support Cáritas Menorca as part of our commitment to corporate social responsibility. This collaboration is part of a shared vision: a more inclusive, supportive, and cohesive Menorca, where all people have opportunities to live with dignity.
Our support takes the form of various concrete actions, such as direct donations to social projects and the delivery of household goods, furniture, clothing, and other items from properties we manage, provided they are in good condition and can be given a second life. Likewise, when we renew the linens in our vacation homes—sheets, towels, tablecloths—we donate the used but still usable pieces to Cáritas Menorca, so they can be donated to families in need. We believe in responsible reuse as a way to help and encourage more conscious and supportive consumption.
We also collaborate to spread the word about their important work among our clients and partners. Every small action helps, and we believe that the business community plays a fundamental role in mobilizing resources and raising awareness in the community. Furthermore, we believe that these types of partnerships not only benefit those who receive support, but also enrich those who participate in them. Connecting with the island's social realities allows us to have a more humane view of our environment and motivates us to continue working toward a more empathetic and committed business model.
We invite all our clients, collaborators, and friends to learn more about the work of Cáritas Menorca and to join this solidarity network, to the extent possible.
At SOM Menorca, we will continue supporting initiatives that promote inclusion, well-being, and improved quality of life on our beloved island. Because we believe that true progress is that which is built by everyone and for the benefit of all.
